This workshop considers acts of exhuming images with film. First, a short lecture will speak to ideas of archives and storytelling. A city walk will be the avenue from which we will create our own personal archives, photographing the experience with Ektachrome film stock.
About the Workshop Lead:
Rhayne Vermette was born in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba. Primarily self taught, her work emphasizes an interruption of image through collage, photography and analog filmmaking. Her works have exhibited internationally, highlighting presentations at The Toronto International Film Festival, The Walker Art Center, New York Film Festival, Jeonju International Film Festival, Valdivia International Film Festival, Platform Center for Photographic and Digital Arts and Ociciwan Contemporary Art Collective. Her critically acclaimed first feature narrative, Ste. Anne (2021) was recognized through varied awards, most notably TIFF’s Amplify Voices Award for Best Canadian Feature Film. Rhayne is currently shortlisted for Canada's Sobey Art Award.
